First, to our regular customers:

  •  We thank you very much for your business which has not only allowed us to make a living but also to help many folks over the years.
  •  You can be glad knowing that your patronage helps us to help others.  Every time you bring us your car for repairs or maintenance you are helping those in need without spending any extra out of your pocket.
  •  We also greatly appreciate it any time you can refer your friends, it keeps us going and growing.

Revive-A-Car Clinic

We offer free or discounted repairs for local individuals in need.

Nobody likes repair bills and we know it's expensive to get your car fixed at a shop but you should be thankful if you're financially able to do so.  Many folks aren't able and we want to help if we can.

If we have a number of needs at once, we schedule a weekend Clinic.  But usually we just work the job into the regular workday schedule.

We help individuals, but also any church can organize a "Garage Day" for those in need in their congregation and we will host it at the shop.  We supply the skilled labor for free and the church pays for the parts at our cost and provides volunteers to help our techs and handle any other ministry that the church may want to provide on the Garage Day.  We work with the Church leaders to schedule parts acquisition and PreChecks to prepare for the actual day.

Who's qualified to receive assistance?

If a church organizes a Garage Day, then that Church selects the individuals they are planning to help.   But also, we are glad to help anyone in the Hampton Roads area who is in need.   Anyone can apply for assistance, but we do try to be wise in how we help people.   God gave us certain instructions in the Bible about helping others so we won't do more harm than good.  We want our help to be effective and real.  We do not want to encourage any bad habits, support harmful addictions, or enable people to mismanage their money on an ongoing basis so we make an effort to get to know you a bit.  Honestly we want to be your friends, at least at some level;  otherwise it's hard to really help in any significant way.

In the early days after Jesus died and rose from the grave, there was a great movement of God's Spirit and the early Christians actually shared their possessions to a degree and there were even daily distributions of food!  To prevent anyone from being lazy, instructions were given at that time (that are recorded in the Bible) that "if you don't work you don't eat".  Pretty strong words, but the idea is that God has given us all responsibilities, and we should be trying to meet them to the best of our abilities.   So to be sure we are helping people in the best way possible, we take these factors into consideration.

Requirements

Unless elderly or disabled, you should be working full time, looking for work, or demonstrate that child-care responsibilities inhibit you from doing so.

Volunteer work may be required

If you are healthy, but not working because you can't find work, volunteer work may be required of you depending on the nature of the repairs and your circumstances.

Proof of income may be required

Some repairs are free, but some are billed on a sliding scale based on your income level.  We may ask for some proof of income - such as the prior year's tax returns or a few pay stubs; again depending on the nature of the repairs and your circumstances.

Widows, elderly, disabled:

God prescribed prerequisites for widows that receive full assistance from the church that included qualities of Godliness and good works.  Partial assistance such as car repairs are not as stringent, but the principle is that God cares how you live your life, whether young or old, and He wants what is best for you.  We are glad to assist you with your car, but to be a good manager of God's money, and obey His instructions, we may also talk to you about spiritual things.

Real Help

We're not saying you have to be a Christian or to "be perfect" to receive help with your car. We are here to help you, but that help goes beyond a car repair.  God made you to be a part of His family.  We invite you to live for Him and embrace all HE has for you in Christ.  Christianity isn't about being perfect, but being forgiven.  It's about having a perfect God help you every day to know Him and walk with Him more.

To fix your broken car and leave that unsaid would do you a huge injustice. We care about getting you on the road, but we care more about the condition of your soul, and whether you have met the One who can fix the broken heart.

If your life is a mess, don't let that keep you from asking for assistance with your car.  We're all a mess, and without him we'd never get cleaned up.  We want to help in every way we can.

Please call us if you need help.
