Open Position- Auto Technician -  "A" Tech

Work Environment

CarScope is not a high pressure work place.  Life is about more than making money.  Though we work hard to get the jobs out, we aim for a friendly family atmosphere.  We have some rules that promote a professional and pleasant environment.  There is no profanity, no smoking, no alcoholic beverages and no pin-up posters (pornography).

We are Christian in our worldview and in our business practices. From a daily business perspective this means we treat others as we would want to be treated.

You do not have to be a Christian to work here.  We welcome anyone here as an employee as long as they uphold the professional, ethical and moral standards that make for a pleasant and efficient work environment.  You may also see literature and hear messages around the shop that share the underlying faith in Jesus that enables us to uphold those standards, and offers forgiveness when we fail to.

We never shove our faith down anyone's throat, but we do believe what Jesus said and we know the positive impact He has made in our lives, this causes us to happily and passionately share our faith so that others can enjoy peace and forgiveness too.   If this type of publically displayed Christianity offends you, you will not likely enjoy working here.   The main reason we started the business in 1988 was to have the freedom to share our faith when the occasion arises.   Even though some people are offended by Christians sharing their faith publicly, just like a good father does what is right for his children even when they don't like it, love also compels us to tell everyone about what Christ has done for us, even at the expense of making some people upset because they do not want to hear it.    The Bible said some people will believe it and their lives and eternities will be changed, literally saved!   But God also told us that many would not like it and would persecute and even put Christians to death for their testimony about Jesus and why He came.    We'd rather accidentally offend a few people in hope that others will be saved by hearing the same message, than disobey God and withhold such good news by remaining silent.

Don't get me wrong, we don't go around talking about it all the time, we're primarily here to work.  But occasionally you will hear and see us sharing our faith and we might even talk to you about it (horrors) so we don't want you to freak out because it seems so strange.  We do still have the right in America to share our faith, even in the work place (at least for now).  But we know that this is not commonly practiced in most businesses, and we think that fact is most unfortunate for individuals and our nation.  Even more sad is the fact that honest spiritual discussion is often not practiced in homes and even worse, some churches seldom if ever talk about what Christianity is really all about; many today prefer more palatable "positive attitude and moral platitude" messages that do little to help our sin problem and will not help us make it to heaven.

We obviously feel passionately about the subject, but rest assured we are fixing cars most of the time while at work.  I just wanted to tell you up front so if you were so inclined, you would not be offended and waste your time starting a job you would not be happy with in the long run.

Automotive Service A-Technician

We are looking for a good all around tech.  You need to be a great diagnostician as well.

  •  Closed weekends
  •  Air Conditioned Shop
  •  We have Identifix, iATN and ALLDATA on line for use.

In addition to benefits, the basic flat rate is $35  to $44 per hour depending on certifications and experience.   With more hours billed it increases to $55 per hour.

We prefer ASE certification, but it is not required. We know certification isn't always indicative of a technician's skills, but we like to offer the customer some form of assurance of competence from a third party.   If hired, we may ask that you take the certification test.

Sales philosophy

Our customers trust us.  One reason is because we don't knowingly sell work that is not needed.  But we have learned that we shouldn't undersell it either.  If a car has a need, we present it to the customer and let them decide if they want to do it while we already have the car.  We also have a commitment to offering preventative maintenance to all of our customers.  Of course, we prioritize the suggested work and let them know what is urgent and if it can wait.  They appreciate this, and often reschedule maintenance work for when they can afford it.

What this means to you...  If a technician looks over a car and notices things that are needed, they will not be ignored by the office.  They will be suggested to the customer. If they can't do it at that time, we call them later to remind them and schedule a time they can do it. Your thoroughness, attention to detail and diligence will be rewarded.  This sales philosophy takes good care of the customers' cars and also keeps you busy so you can make a good living.

Shop Advertising

We are also committed to using whatever advertising means is needed to ensure that the shop stays busy.  We have produced instructional videos so we can produce our own TV and radio commercials.  Our main advertising thrust is to concentrate on our customer base through thank you calls and letters, maintenance reminders, follow up contacts about jobs that they couldn't do when they were first suggested and referral incentives.   All of our advertising is geared toward attracting and retaining loyal customers that trust us and are ready to do the work they need instead of attracting price shoppers.
