Have you ever broken one of the ten commandments? (If your not worried about the ten commandments please click here for a more in depth conversation about human needs. The virtual conversation is on the LYNC Network web site.)
Jesus said if you even think about breaking one you've already broken it in your heart, He also said if you've broken one, you've broken them all! God's standard is perfection. We've all fallen short of that! Like dirty oil in an engine, sin has contaminated our lives. Dirty oil can wreck your engine, and sin causes premature failure of our bodies, but even worse, it brings condemnation to our souls.
Unlike car service though, there's only one shop that can fix your soul. And you can't do-it-yourself. How do I know? Car manuals are sometimes wrong, but my information source here is very reliable. Jesus came to earth to show us the Father, and to bring us back to God. He promised a lot, and He delivered it all, including rising from the dead. He can be trusted above all else. HE SAID "No one comes to the Father except through me."
The reason is simple, the debt of sin has to be paid. A good judge has to punish the guilty. We can pay that debt ourselves by spending eternity in hell, or we can take the free gift God has provided to save us from that fate. But we have to follow the manufacturers specific recommendation, or there is no warranty. God loves us so much that He was willing to take the punishment Himself, a perfect sinless "lamb of God" to be sacrificed on a cross. The innocent for the guilty.
Just like cars, our manufacturer has provided a service procedure that will replace the contaminated oil in our hearts. God promised long ago, “A new heart also will I give you, and a new Spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you a heart of flesh.” Ezekiel 36:26.
God fulfilled this promise in Jesus Christ, “Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new."
Now then, we are speaking for Christ, as though God were pleading through us: we beg you on God’s behalf, be made right with God. For God made Jesus, who knew no sin, to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him. 2 Corinthians 5:17-21
If you've never had your "oil changed", you can get it done today. Jesus is standing at the door of your heart and knocking. You can let him in, right now. Accepting Christ into your life as your Savior (the one who saves you from your sin) doesn't guarantee a trouble free life on this earth, but it guarantees forgiveness and freedom from the judgment we all deserve for our sins. Please, don't put it off. Tomorrow may be too late.
But what does it say? "The word is near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart," that is, the word of faith we are proclaiming: That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved. As the Scripture says, "Anyone who trusts in him will never be put to shame." Romans 10:8-11
